Dear Church Family,
In the last few months, we have seen the presence of God among the people of First Baptist Church and our community in creative new ways. Though we don’t know when we’ll be fully back together in person, I believe that our future is held in our creative God’s hands, and our church leadership—both staff and lay leaders—are on board to continue our 135-year legacy of ministry in Martinsville-Henry County for the next year.
This year, I would like to encourage you to pray about your ability to give to our church’s ministries as we seek to grow as a family of faith—both in numbers and in our gifts of service and care. God calls us to be generous givers, thinking not of ourselves, but of others. I ask that in the next few days you take time to look over our ministry plan and commit yourself this year to generous giving. Commitment Sunday is November 15, 2020. If you haven’t received a pledge card and would like one to commit yourself for a certain financial amount next year (which helps us to plan our budgets year by year), you can request one from the church office to mailed or emailed. Send our Financial Secretary Kaylee White an email by clicking here.
Prayerfully, we ask you: Can you increase your support so your church can continue to expanded in ministry this year? Or – if you have never given to First Baptist’s ministries or haven’t in awhile: Can you commit yourself to supporting the ministries of this church in the coming year, both financially and in time and service?
The 2021 church budget was approved at the October 25, 2020 business meeting. In the brochure linked above, we share our 2021 Ministry Plan that shows how the line items in our budget translate into tangible ministry. Where is your financial gift going? See what we’re up to!
We are caring for one another, worshiping together, sharing our faith with our community, growing in spirituality, and caring for the space we have been entrusted. And, of course, in addition to your financial support, we also need your time and talents for each of these facets of ministry!
Let’s be “all in” this coming year—joined with God’s plan to reach those who need Jesus’s love and a faith community that cares about them. And if you can fill out a pledge card to let us know you’ve joined in, you help us know what to expect in your giving for the coming year. But whether you pledge or not, we ask that you prayerfully consider increasing your giving for the 2021 ministry year at First Baptist.
Thank you in advance for your continued support. I am “all in” with you!
In Christ,
Libby
