Rev. Dr. Libby Grammer will preach a sermon entitled, “An Idle Tale?”
The Resurrection story has been told and retold for the two thousand years of Christianity, and there have always been those, from the time of the first disciples to our present day who have seen the story as “an idle tale” – and yet faith in the miracle of resurrection persists! What is it about this powerful story – told from many perspectives, even in Scripture – that compels us, just as it compelled those first preachers of the Gospel – the women at the tomb? How do we experience it as Truth in our midst today?
Today is Easter Sunday, the joyous celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ! Easter Sunday marks the end of Holy Week, the end of the season of Lent, and is the beginning of Eastertide in the liturgical year. Eastertide is celebrated from Easter Sunday for fifty days, until the day of Pentecost, and focuses on the meaning of Christ’s resurrection. The liturgical color is white, symbolizing light, victory, and eternal life.
Giving of our Resources
Please continue to give generously to the ministries of our church in 2021, even as we cannot meet in person each week. You can give online here or mail / drop off your tithes and offerings to the church office. Your gifts help us to continue to minister through virtual church services, Bible studies, ministry to the community, and more.
Thank you for providing for the mission and ministry of First Baptist Church!
