Guest CBF Preacher, Jessica Hearne will preach a sermon entitled, “A Safe Place

We Welcome Jessica Hearne as our guest preacher this morning! Jessica is currently serving as Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Field Personnel in Danville, VA. She and her husband Joshua serve alongside Grace and Main Fellowship, an intentional Christian community practicing radical hospitality and shared life with people experiencing homelessness, hunger, addiction, food and housing insecurity, and injustice. Jessica manages Grace and Main’s Urban Farm and Tool Library, which provide fresh food, gardening education, and free access to tools for people living in their neighborhoods. Jessica and Joshua are also parents to a very energetic daughter, Lucia.

Today is the First Sunday in Lent. Lent is the season in which we anticipate Jesus’ final trip to Jerusalem and the self-giving nature of love shown in his passion and death. The season begins with Ash Wednesday and extends for forty days through Saturday of Holy Week. Sundays are excluded from Lent, being regarded as feast days in the midst of the forty-day fast. Lent is a strongly penitential season. The liturgical color is purple, used to symbolize penance, preparation, sacrifice.

Giving of our Resources

Please continue to give generously to the ministries of our church in 2021, whether in-person or online here – or mail / drop off your tithes and offerings to the church office. Your gifts help us to continue to minister through in-person and virtual church services, Bible studies, ministry to the community, and more.

Thank you for providing for the mission and ministry of First Baptist Church!
