Rev. Libby Grammer will preach the second sermon in a three-part series entitled “By Faith.”

This week’s sermon is “By Faith, An Unknown”

Like any good story, our faith stories begin somewhere, move through a journey, and find resolution. For the three Sundays in August, we will journey together through the concept of faith – where it begins, how it can stay constant, and how it leads us to mystery we can embrace with our obedience to a call from God.

Faith calls us to new tasks and new relationships, sometimes asking more of us than we think we have available to give. Like Jeremiah, churches can feel ill-equipped to answer God’s call. It’s a vulnerable place to be – reluctant and afraid of our own inadequacies. Yet God has provided for a great many prophets who initially objected to God’s call, and God is going to provide for our churches, if we live by faith. It’s an unknown we step into, with the prophets, to ensure God’s loving kingdom is shared widely. By faith, let’s do this together, trusting the God who equips the called.
