Rev. Dr. Libby Grammer will preach a Sermon entitled “Beginning Again”
To be in tune with God’s reign in this world, we have to understand, like Nicodemus, that we have a transformative overhaul of our lives ahead of us. We might get confused like our friend Nic, too. We might think too literally and not dream figuratively with Jesus and the Holy Spirit. But then we’d be missing the point. God calls us out of our religious routines to pay attention to the real point: God loves us, sent Jesus to love and teach and redeem us, and left the Spirit to inspire us. Let’s remember that beginning again is part and parcel of this faith journey we’re on.
Today is Trinity Sunday in the Christian year, when we proclaim the church’s belief in a Triune God—Father, Son, Holy Spirit. It is a day in which we praise and worship the infinitely complex and unfathomable mystery of God’s being as Holy Trinity, One in Three, Three in One. The liturgical color for Trinity Sunday is white, symbolizing God’s purity and perfection.
