At First Baptist Early Learning Center, we have created new space for school-age children to complete virtual learning in Fall 2020. We renovated our school-age (after-school) classroom, and then we added a newly-renovated classroom next door to accommodate two classes of virtual learners – one for ages 5-7 (Kindergarten to 2nd grade) and one for ages 8-11 (3rd to 5th grade). Each classroom has a dedicated WiFi access point for plenty of internet bandwidth, and two teachers to help guide the children through their studies and their day. Additionally, virtual learners have music classes under the direction of FBC’s Minister of Music, Becky Collins, as well as opportunities to take private piano and voice instruction at the newly-created First Music Academy. All virtual learners are provided hot meals (breakfast & lunch), snacks, and recreational time (either on our outdoor, enclosed playground or if inclement weather – in our downstairs play area).
Below are a few photos of our kids and their teachers. With three different school systems and virtual platforms, different technologies (tablets, laptops, etc.), our teachers have been amazingly adaptable and helpful to our school-age children this year. We are grateful to be able to offer parents assistance in these odd days of COVID-19.
