Rev. Bonnylee Witt will preach a sermon entitled, “Choosing God”
We welcome to our pulpit Rev. Bonnylee Witt. Rev. Witt is an ordained Baptist minister and experienced Healthcare Chaplain. She has served as Chaplain and Director of Pastoral Care in clinical hospitals for the past thirty years. Rev. Witt’s purpose in her pastoral care ministry (“Guiding Light Pastoral Care, LLC”) is to offer resources for Emotional & Spiritual Wellbeing through one-on-one, Group Facilitation, and Class Curriculum Format (Didactic, Therapeutic Activity, and Sharing).
This is the season after Pentecost in the Christian year. Having celebrated the “birthday of the church” through the giving of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost, we enter the Season after Pentecost for 24 weeks, to celebrate the existence of the church and recall her mission in the world. The liturgical color for the season is green, symbolic of the church’s growth and mission.

Rev. Steve Zimmerman will preach a sermon entitled, “What’s It All About”
We welcome to our pulpit Rev. Steve Zimmerman. He has been in ministry for almost 40 years serving Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia Baptist churches either as an associate pastor or as an interim pastor. In 2010, he began a ministry group called the Barnabas Partnership. These experienced ministers provide short term ministry support to churches.

“Benediction,” from the Latin “benedictio” (blessing), is a ceremonial final blessing offered by a pastor at the end of a worship service. This Sunday, I offer my final benediction, my blessing, to you, First Baptist Church of Martinsville. Just as Paul prayed for the Ephesian church, so I too pray for you and leave you with sweet memories and prayers for your future.
