Rev. Dr. Libby Grammer will preach a sermon entitled, “Truth Seekers”
The Kingdom of God that Jesus kept teaching about during his ministry is so vastly different from the kingdoms of this world that a Sunday of Christian year is spent detailing just how much these kingdoms differ – and how we as Christians should live fully as followers of Jesus in his reign in the world. In our Gospel lesson for this week, we learn that Jesus’s own focus for his reign was on what I like to call “capital-T truth” – how can we as modern Christians follow the voice of Jesus and seek after this Truth?
Today is Christ the King/Reign of Christ Sunday, the final Sunday of the season after Pentecost and the liturgical church year, which begins anew with the first Sunday of Advent next week. The focus of today’s worship is God’s ultimate victory and reign through Jesus Christ, punctuated by Christ’s unique approach to kingship, in service and love of God and others. The liturgical color is white, symbolizing the purity and light of Christ.
Giving of our Resources
Please continue to give generously to the ministries of our church in 2021, whether in-person or online here – or mail / drop off your tithes and offerings to the church office. Your gifts help us to continue to minister through in-person and virtual church services, Bible studies, ministry to the community, and more.
Thank you for providing for the mission and ministry of First Baptist Church!
