Rev. Dr. Libby Grammer will preach a sermon entitled, “The Shepherd King”

On Reign of Christ Sunday, we look at the metaphors of God and God’s Son as reigning monarchs over the Kingdom of Heaven. Throughout Scripture, we see these images of divinely-appointed rulers and of God and Christ as rulers. Often, these rulers are described as Shepherds, which we think of as comforting, loving, nurturing leaders – and they are those things – but shepherds are also valiant protectors and must make constant decisions about how to keep a flock healthy. And though no metaphor works perfectly for describing God, the shepherd is an interesting and rich metaphor to explore when we talk about God and Christ as “King,” with its pastoral and prophetic understandings to both comfort and challenge us.

Giving of our Resources

Please continue to give generously to the ministries of our church in 2020, even as we cannot meet in person each week. You can give online here or mail / drop off your tithes and offerings to the church office. Your gifts help us to continue to minister through virtual church services, Bible studies, ministry to the community, and more.

Thank you for providing for the mission and ministry of First Baptist Church!
