Scripture includes: Matthew 25:14-30

Rev. Dr. Libby Grammer will preach a sermon entitled, “Risky Business

Following the Holy Spirit and trusting in God’s abundance is not a low-risk way of living. In our passage from the Gospel of Matthew this week, Jesus talked about how if we don’t ever risk anything in our faith, we’ll find ourselves worse off in the long run. As we commit ourselves together with Jesus to the work of God’s Kingdom, will it be a risk-filled reward or a cautionary tale?

This is the season after Pentecost in the Christian year. Having celebrated the “birthday of the church” through the giving of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost, we enter the Season after Pentecost for 24 weeks, to celebrate the existence of the church and recall her mission in the world. The liturgical color for the season is green, symbolic of the church’s growth and mission.

Today is Commitment Sunday at First Baptist Church. During the service, in addition to blessing our tithes and offerings, our church family prayerfully presents their financial pledges to God and the ministries of this church for the coming year. (If you haven’t had a chance to fill yours out yet, please make your heart dedication today and mail/email your pledge card this week to the church office).

Giving of our Resources

Please continue to give generously to the ministries of our church in 2023, whether in-person or online here – or mail / drop off your tithes and offerings to the church office. Your gifts help us to continue to minister through in-person and virtual church services, Bible studies, ministry to the community, and more.

Thank you for providing for the mission and ministry of First Baptist Church!
