Disaster Relief & Response – Hurricane Dorian

Looking for a way to help in the aftermath of the devastation of Hurricane Dorian?

First Baptist Martinsville affiliates with the Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV) and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF). Both of these organizations have ways to help and to give to aid those in need after disasters.

The Virginia Baptist Disaster Response teams are some of the most coordinated and well-trained groups that assist with disaster relief and response around the country and the world. Since 1969, these well-trained volunteers have partnered with local churches and other nonprofits to meet the needs of disaster survivors. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, BGAV will provide training for you to go and volunteer on response teams. Click here for more information on BGAV disaster response volunteer training and click here to take online training. You can also give monetarily and 100% of your donation will be used for disaster relief. Click here to give to BGAV or make a check payable to “BGAV” and make a designation of “Virginia Baptist Disaster Response” in the memo line. You can mail your check directly to BGAV or give it to the church office to send on your behalf.

As part of our coordinated mission efforts with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, we have partners all around the globe assisting with disaster response. CBF Disaster Response exists to equip Christians and churches to serve communities affected by disaster. After Hurricane Dorian, CBF Disaster Response is working with CBF Florida to make connections with CBF Bahamas communities to assess the needs on the ground. The Baptist World Alliance is working alongside member groups Bahamas Baptists and Caribbean Baptist Fellowship to confirm the needs and begin taking steps with volunteer teams and needed pastoral care and donations. To learn more about CBF’s responses, click here. To learn about Caribbean Baptist news about Dorian, click here. To volunteer with CBF disaster response, click here to apply. To give to CBF’s relief efforts, you can click here or make checks payable to “CBF” with “Hurricane Response” in the memo and mail to the CBF main office or give to our church office.

Your prayers and support during the recovery period for disaster victims is important. Please consider a gift or becoming a volunteer today!
