Easter Sunday
Virtual Church – Online
Scriptures include: Jeremiah 31:1-6 and John 20:1-18
Rev. Dr. Libby Grammer will preach a sermon entitled, “Why are you weeping?”
One of the beauties of the Easter story as told in the Gospel of John is that it intentionally begins in the darkness: “Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark.” Mary Magdalene is afraid when she arrives to find the stone rolled away. She runs to find the other disciples. Everyone’s perplexed. And we find Mary weeping outside the tomb. In a time where we grieve the loss of in-person interaction, where we grieve the loss of loved ones to an unknown virus, we are greeted with the same question Mary was: “Why are you weeping?” And the answer wasn’t and isn’t, “you shouldn’t be weeping!” but rather “There’s no more reason to weep – let me tell you why.” THAT is the Good News, my friends. In the midst of weeping, Jesus shows up, alive again, and we exclaim with Mary Magdalene: “I have seen the Lord!”
Giving of our Resources
Please continue to give generously to the ministries of our church, even as we cannot meet in person each week. You can give online here or mail your tithes and offerings to the church office. Your gifts help us to continue to offer ministry to our church members through virtual church services, Bible studies, ministry to the community, and more.
Also – don’t forget that we are participating in the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Offering for Global Missions in this season, too. Pray & Give – our goal as a church is $2,000, and we have raised $2,082 thus far. We hope to continue to exceed our gifts for CBF’s good work!
