Rev. Dr. Libby Grammer will preach a sermon entitled, “Another Road Out of Bethlehem”

The magi from the East came to Bethlehem in search of a Jewish newborn king. Despite a murderous sitting king, they found him, worshiped him, and left by another road. These new followers of Jesus found “another road” – one that leads to “The Way,” as early Christians were called. Where are we heading as we leave worship today, or any Sunday? What road are we on – The Way, or our own way?

Today is Epiphany Sunday in the Christian year. Epiphany (January 6) celebrates the manifestation of God in Jesus Christ. The season after the Epiphany continues this emphasis, calling attention to the words and deeds of Jesus’ earthly ministry by which his divine sonship is made manifest. The liturgical color for Epiphany Sunday is white, symbolic of the purity of Christ.
