“Feeding First”

A missions endeavor from First Baptist for those First Responders, Essential Personnel, and Medical Personnel on the Front Lines

First Baptist wanted to send our support and love to those on the front lines – emergency personnel, essential workers, hospital staff, etc. during the quarantine. They are putting themselves at risk for us all. To that end, the Missions Committee and other church leadership began a feeding program, “Feeding First,” offering meals to those front line workers on their shifts. Throughout this COVID-19 crisis, FBC has been coordinating missions efforts around our community, sharing meals, prayers, and love for essential personnel, first responders, and medical staff.

Your generosity has helped us to purchase these meals. Thank you for your gifts!

Here are a few photos from our “Feeding First” meal deliveries. Each organization received meals from local restaurants (Chick-fil-A, Ashley’s Taste of Home, and Rising Sun Breads) for everyone on their shift, with an attached prayer card for each person. The prayer on the card was written by our own Roslyn Wingett for these essential workers, and Dr. Grammer read the prayer for each gathered group of employees. Every group was so appreciative and felt loved and prayed for. We have received numerous phone calls, emails, and notes thanking us. You might even see our prayer signs around town if you get out and about!

King’s Grant has a sign from FBC at the guard gate reminding them we are praying for them!

We will be continuing the Feeding First program in the days and weeks to come, as we have the funds. If you have ideas for the program or want to be involved in setting up the meals, you are encouraged to reach out to our Missions Committee Chairperson: Bobby Moore (lbmoorepatt@gmail.com or 276-634-7997).

Here are specific ways you can help:

  • Is there somewhere you know of that could use a meal? Tell Bobby!
  • Give Generously to Missions Opportunities Fund so we can buy meals (see link below). Sponsor a typical meal for $120 (or donate for a half meal, or a couple of meals!)
  • Meal Delivery (safely, with masks & gloves!)
  • Provide Desserts/Drinks/Sides (Drop off no-contact at the church)
