Rev. Dr. Libby Grammer will preach a sermon entitled, “Epiphany about God: God is Creator and Sustainer”
God, Creator of the Universe, is big-picture. And YET God cares for the particular too and is here for us no matter our circumstances, helping us when we’re broken and struggling. We need not rely on the strength of the created world, even ourselves, because God’s power can do the work.
This is the Fifth Sunday After Epiphany in the Christian year. Epiphany (January 6) celebrates the manifestation of God in Jesus Christ. The Season of Epiphany continues this emphasis, calling attention to the words and deeds of Jesus’ earthly ministry. The liturgical color for the season is green, representing new life and growth. On the first Sunday of each month, we celebrate communion, and the liturgical color changes to white to recognize the holiness and majesty of Christ.
This year, during the season of Epiphany, we will seek to know God better through a sermon series called “Epiphanies about God,” reading from the Psalms each week. We are asking questions and seek answers with the psalmists about who God is, how God works, and how we might encounter God in our own lives.
