Scripture includes: Isaiah 58:9b-12 and Matthew 5:13-20

Rev. Dr. Libby Grammer will preach a sermon entitled, “Bright, Salty Christians.”

Did you know Jesus actually asked his followers to be salty? Early in his first sermon in Matthew, he tells his listeners that they are the salt of the earth. He also insisted his followers be bright (not necessarily the smartest in the room, mind you), but having their faith shine so brightly that no one misses their good deeds. Jesus teaches these things to call people into a new way of living their lives, one that embodies all God wants in the Kingdom of God.

Today is the Fifth Sunday After Epiphany in the Christian year. Epiphany (January 6) celebrates the manifestation of God in Jesus Christ. The Season of Epiphany continues this emphasis, calling attention to the words and deeds of Jesus’ earthly ministry. The liturgical color for the season is green, representing new life and growth.

Giving of our Resources

Please continue to give generously to the ministries of our church in 2023, whether in-person or online here – or mail / drop off your tithes and offerings to the church office. Your gifts help us to continue to minister through in-person and virtual church services, Bible studies, ministry to the community, and more.

Thank you for providing for the mission and ministry of First Baptist Church!
