Rev. Dr. Libby Grammer will preach a sermon entitled, “A Waiting Season”
This year, it’s both harder and easier to spend four weeks waiting in patient anticipation. On the one hand, we have more time – there aren’t a bunch of holiday parties to attend, we probably do most of our shopping on the computer. We can focus more of our energy on our Advent devotions, our wreath marking the weeks walking toward Christmas. On the other hand, all we have done in 2020 is wait – wait for the next round of virus cases, the next news cycle. We’ve waited for a vaccine, for presidential election results. We’ve waited to go out of the house for months, or waited at home in quarantine for 14 days. But as hard (and sometimes irritating and scary) as waiting is, we learn something in seasons of waiting. So, in this Advent season of waiting for Christ to come – both as a child in a manger and for the final time sometime in the future – we once again sit in anticipation, in hope for a future that’s better, knowing that God has something miraculous in store.
Each Sunday during Advent, some of our newer church families will read the texts and light the candles of the Advent wreath. Reading the text today is Taylor Robertson, who attends our Journey Small Group for Young Adults virtually each week and attends worship virtually as well.

Giving of our Resources
Please continue to give generously to the ministries of our church in 2020, even as we cannot meet in person each week. You can give online here or mail / drop off your tithes and offerings to the church office. Your gifts help us to continue to minister through virtual church services, Bible studies, ministry to the community, and more.
Thank you for providing for the mission and ministry of First Baptist Church!
