Pastor Update 5-13-2020

Dear Church Family,

I hope our cool weather and beautiful flowers have kept up your spirits during these isolating times. As we enter week 8 of quarantine, realizing two months of our lives have been upended very suddenly this year, I know I am at least grateful for decent views from our windows, comfortable weather for a walk outdoors, and the beauty of new creation around every corner.

I know these are hard days, being apart. I also know, though, that being apart is exactly how we love one another in these days. The church’s Coordinating Council is watching closely the reopening plans for our community, and while technically we could try to meet in person this weekend, we are going to hold off a while longer to see how Phase 1 of reopening goes for this area. We want to keep our congregation as safe as possible and take seriously the encouragement from health officials to continue our online/virtual worship services and Bible studies for the time being. We plan to discuss again our plans near our June 10th end date (which was chosen in April and reiterated at a meeting this week).

Until we meet again in-person, we will continue our online/phone worship opportunities and fellowship/Bible study opportunities. Here’s a weekly schedule and how to join in:

If you have any trouble getting connected with us, please let the church office know! We want you to be able to be a part of our church community however you can in this season.

We have also updated our church office hours to accommodate the training of our new Financial Secretary:

New Church Office Hours:

Monday-Thursday 8:30AM to 5:00PM

We also continue to live out our faith through offering community prayer requests to be submitted on our website (fbcmartinsville.com/prayers) or called in to the church office. If you’re interested in being updated on our community prayer requests, please contact Roslyn Wingett.

For missions, we continue to offer meals to first responders and essential personnel through our Feeding First missions program. Want to help us do this? It’s easy – you can give to our Missions Opportunities fund – just mark it in the memo of your check or online gift. (Thank you to all who have donated generously to the fund so far to provide meals!). You can also make desserts to accompany our meals (drop off safely at the church door). Or you can help Bobby Moore or Linda Dorr with the calling and set up of the meals. If you feel up to getting out (with masks and gloves!) you are also welcome to help us deliver meals.

Thank you for your continued love for each other and for God, even as we face this season of uncertainty. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me, your deacon, or the church office if you have any need.

In Christ,

Libby
