Scripture includes: Isaiah 62:1-5 and John 2:1-11

Rev. Dr. Libby Grammer will preach a sermon entitled, “Extravagance and Abundance”

It seems pretty odd that Jesus’s first miracle in the Gospel of John is saving a wedding feast by changing water into wine. Jesus wasn’t healing or saving souls – just the hosts from embarrassment. But the extravagance of the quality of wine and the abundance of it points us toward something important about the Kingdom of God: through Jesus, humanity receives God’s abundance, God’s extravagance, God’s joy.

Today is the Second Sunday After Epiphany in the Christian year. Epiphany (January 6) celebrates the manifestation of God in Jesus Christ. The Season of Epiphany continues this emphasis, calling attention to the words and deeds of Jesus’ earthly ministry. The liturgical color is green, representing new life and growth.

Giving of our Resources

Please continue to give generously to the ministries of our church in 2021, whether in-person or online here – or mail / drop off your tithes and offerings to the church office. Your gifts help us to continue to minister through in-person and virtual church services, Bible studies, ministry to the community, and more.

Thank you for providing for the mission and ministry of First Baptist Church!
