Preacher Rev. Dr. Libby Grammer will preach a sermon entitled, “Wholeness and Healing”
When Jesus calls disciples, he calls them from wherever they are – whether they are already considered “righteous” or not. And he calls them from their brokenness into wholeness. Similarly, when Jesus heals the sick, he opens himself and his power to those most ill, even unto death. What do you need healing from today? How can faith in Christ bring you wholeness, beginning today? This Sunday, we will include a service of healing – from our deepest sinfulness and struggles, to prayers for healing of our bodies and psyches.
This is the season after Pentecost in the Christian year. Having celebrated the “birthday of the church” through the giving of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost, we enter the Season after Pentecost for 24 weeks, to celebrate the existence of the church and recall her mission in the world. The liturgical color for the season is green, symbolic of the church’s growth and mission. On the first Sunday of each month, we celebrate communion, and the liturgical color changes to white to recognize the holiness and majesty of Christ.
Giving of our Resources
Please continue to give generously to the ministries of our church in 2023, whether in-person or online here – or mail / drop off your tithes and offerings to the church office. Your gifts help us to continue to minister through in-person and virtual church services, Bible studies, ministry to the community, and more.
Thank you for providing for the mission and ministry of First Baptist Church!
