Rev. Aisha Davis will preach a sermon entitled, “Standing in the Gap”
In 2007, Baptist Women in Ministry invited Baptist churches to participate in BWIM Month of Preaching (formerly Martha Stearns Marshall Month) by having a woman preach during the month of February. This invitation became an annual event, one that has been a deeply significant source of joy and discovery for many churches as they have celebrated the giftedness of women. We celebrate this Sunday by inviting a guest woman in ministry to preach for us.
We welcome Rev. Aisha Davis to our virtual pulpit today. Rev. Davis is the Minister of Small Groups at The Church Without Walls in Houston, TX. She currently serves as a Vocation and Formation Group Leader at Fuller Theological Seminary, and she is the Founder of Unity Research Group, LLC. She graduated with a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary and received a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from Dillard University in New Orleans. Aisha enjoys preaching, teaching, playing the guitar, salsa dancing, cross-fit and spending time with her daughter, family and friends.
The Church Without Walls is one church in three locations in the Houston area. They believe that believers are limitless in God’s possibilities. Therefore, no “walls” can restrict God’s people and “… all things are possible …” with God on your side.
Today is the Second Sunday in Lent. Lent is the season in which we anticipate Jesus’ final trip to Jerusalem and the self-giving nature of love shown in his passion and death. The season begins with Ash Wednesday and extends for forty days through Saturday of Holy Week. Sundays are excluded from Lent, being regarded as feast days in the midst of the forty-day fast. Lent is a strongly penitential season. The liturgical color is purple, used to symbolize penance, preparation, sacrifice.
Giving of our Resources
Please continue to give generously to the ministries of our church in 2021, even as we cannot meet in person each week. You can give online here or mail / drop off your tithes and offerings to the church office. Your gifts help us to continue to minister through virtual church services, Bible studies, ministry to the community, and more.
Thank you for providing for the mission and ministry of First Baptist Church!
