Rev. Dr. Libby Grammer will preach a sermon entitled, “How Can I Keep From Singing?”
The story of Easter should inspire us to worship God for the gift of life – life transformed in the here and now and life eternal for the days to come. Our Psalm and Acts passage alike remind us that we are a people called to speak a message and give thanks to God no matter what else comes our way, for God has been gracious and merciful to us. As the old hymn goes: “My life flows on in endless song, above earth’s lamentation. I catch the sweet, though far-off hymn that hails a new creation. No storm can shake my inmost calm while to that Rock I’m clinging. Since Love is lord of heav’n and earth, how can I keep from singing?”
Today is the Second Sunday of Easter. Easter Sunday was the beginning of the season of Eastertide in the liturgical year. Eastertide is celebrated from Easter Sunday for fifty days, until the day of Pentecost, and focuses on the meaning of Christ’s resurrection. The liturgical color is white, symbolizing light, victory, and eternal life.
