Sixth Sunday after Epiphany
Scripture includes: Jeremiah 17:5-10 and Luke 6:17-26
Rev. Ashley Harrington will preach a sermon entitled, “Level Places”
It is so easy to see the imbalances of the world around us, from food deserts to wealth and education gaps. Jesus, while preaching on the plain, has much to say about flipping our expectations of who is blessed and who is woeful. This hard hitting gospel invites us to join the upside down kingdom of God that makes things level for everyone.
This Sunday is the Sixth Sunday After Epiphany in the Christian year. Epiphany (January 6) celebrates the manifestation of God in Jesus Christ. The Season of Epiphany continues this emphasis, calling attention to the words and deeds of Jesus’ earthly ministry. The liturgical color is green, representing new life and growth.
