Joe is the Chaplain for Good News Jail & Prison Ministry in the Martinsville and Henry County corrections facilities. The mission of Good News Jail & Prison Ministry is to help fulfill the Great Commission by reaching inmates around the world with the Good News of Jesus Christ. You are invited to consider becoming a partner with Joe in this great calling, by prayer, volunteering, and/or financial support.
Joe Collins is a native of Bristol, VA and a graduate of Belmont University, Nashville, TN. He served as pastor at First Baptist Church, Charlotte, TN before becoming a chaplain with Good News Jail & Prison Ministry in January 1997. He served as Chaplain for the Dickson County Sheriff’s Department (TN) until May 2001. In 2000, Joe was named Chaplain of the Year by Good News Jail & Prison Ministry. In 2001, he transferred to Harrison County, Mississippi to begin the ministry at the Harrison County Detention Center. In 2015, Joe transferred to Prince George, VA to begin the ministry for GNJPM at Riverside Regional Jail. On August 1, 2019, Joe came to Martinsville/Henry County Jails as chaplain with GNJPM.
