Christ the King Sunday
Scriptures include: Jeremiah 23:1-6 and Luke 23:33-43

On Christ the King Sunday, we celebrate the eternal and powerful reign of Christ, ushered in by Jesus’s life, and continued forever because of his death and resurrection. But the text we read in our Gospel lesson is not one of a display of power; it’s one that shows a peaceful, loving, and forgiving Christ, mockingly called the “King of the Jews.” What kind of king is this Jesus? What kind of people should his followers be? As we end the church year, let us think together about what kind of kingdom we serve and why.
