“Your faith has made you well”…Gratitude isn’t something we do as part of faith; it is our faith. We give thanks to God, and in doing so, we fulfill the first and greatest commandment – to love God. We give thanks for all we have, and thus become generous to others, fulfilling the second greatest commandment – to love one another as God loves us. The inspiring part of the parable we read in Luke isn’t the healing power of a miracle, but the act of faith by the Samaritan who gave thanks for his newfound health. Prayers of thanks are part of our healing and deliverance, and practicing gratitude fundamentally changes our character and makes us more compassionate and loving – more like Jesus.
