Guest Preacher, Rev. Dr. LaTonya Penny will preach a sermon entitled, “One Body, One Strength”
We welcome Dr. LaTonya N. McIver Penny as our Guest Preacher this morning! Dr. Penny is a native of Leasburg, NC. She holds a B.S. in Communications from NC Agricultural & Technical State University, an M.A. in Teaching from East Carolina University, an M.Div. from Wake Forest University, and a D.Min. from Campbell University.
Dr. Penny joins us as part of the “Respite for Revs” initiative to support local clergy through providing respite care through preaching or teaching respite supply at no cost to local congregations. Sponsored by various Baptist organizations, Dr. Penny joins us from the Thriving Ministry program at Wake Forest Divinity School. This Sunday is the Third Sunday After Epiphany in the Christian year. Epiphany (January 6) celebrates the manifestation of God in Jesus Christ. The Season of Epiphany continues this emphasis, calling attention to the words and deeds of Jesus’ earthly ministry. The liturgical color is green, representing new life and growth.
