Our Gospel lesson gives us stories of instantaneous decisions to follow Christ. We as Christians often have a lot of focus on “the moment” of our own conversion and decision to follow. But these recorded moments were the beginning of a nurtured, long-term commitment by these disciples. What does spontaneous grace mean in our long-term relationship to God?
