Rev. Dr. Libby Grammer will preach a sermon entitled, “By Whose Authority?”
In this week’s Gospel lesson, we see Jesus talking to religious leaders about their limited view of the world and lack of ability to see beyond their own tidy versions of faith to the fullness of the Kingdom of God. By whose authority does Jesus work? His own – that of God’s Kingdom come to earth. What does that way of viewing God’s Table mean for us this World Communion Sunday?
Today is World Communion Sunday, which is observed annually on the first Sunday in October. In a time when fear and violence divide the people of God’s earth, World Communion Sunday reminds us of our unity through Christ. Christians in congregations around the world are participating in communion today, and First Baptist Church joins our brothers and sisters in all nations as we gather around the table to remember Christ’s sacrifice.
Giving of our Resources
Please continue to give generously to the ministries of our church in 2023, whether in-person or online here – or mail / drop off your tithes and offerings to the church office. Your gifts help us to continue to minister through in-person and virtual church services, Bible studies, ministry to the community, and more.
Thank you for providing for the mission and ministry of First Baptist Church!
