Rev. Dr. Libby Grammer will preach a sermon entitled, “Called by God

Following a call from God is not for the faint of heart, and most of us feel less than adequate to do so. But the examples of the prophet Jeremiah and Jesus himself remind us that the call makes us worthy, not our own perfection, and we are called even when the world doubts us.

This Sunday is ReShape Commitment Sunday. Your ReShape Coordination Team has completed discernment work and crafted a ReShape Ministry Guide to serve as a roadmap in the coming few years of ministry together. Using the insights and conversations from our ReShape Small Group meetings September – November 2021, this group of volunteers prayed, discerned, and compiled this document on behalf of First Baptist Church.

The team presented the document to the entire church via Zoom on Sunday, January 23, 2022. Based on churchwide feedback, a few small changes were made, and the updated document is linked above (paper copies are available in the church office or in the narthex on Sunday). This service will involve a churchwide vote of affirmation as part of worship.

This Sunday is the Fourth Sunday After Epiphany in the Christian year. Epiphany (January 6) celebrates the manifestation of God in Jesus Christ. The Season of Epiphany continues this emphasis, calling attention to the words and deeds of Jesus’ earthly ministry. The liturgical color is green, representing new life and growth.

Giving of our Resources

Please continue to give generously to the ministries of our church in 2021, whether in-person or online here – or mail / drop off your tithes and offerings to the church office. Your gifts help us to continue to minister through in-person and virtual church services, Bible studies, ministry to the community, and more.

Thank you for providing for the mission and ministry of First Baptist Church!
